I'm looking into buying a level 2 Saturn ion; 2004 or 2005. Does anyone know the reliability history for these? Are their transmissions more durable than the S-Series? We test drove one today, and it felt better than the Vue, I Series, and my 97' SC2. Haven't taken her on the highway yet, nor do I know how it corners. I'm looking for a new car that can last many more years, and I'll definitely be putting a ton of highway miles on it. I'm excited that I'll be able to afford a newer car in a few months! Woot! As always Saturn has been awesome to deal with. -Brian
'02 to '04 are virtually unchanged, some minor changes. In '05 the IOn went through over 800 changes, drivetrain and cosmetics. Starting in '05 and to current, ION's changes include Laminated Quiet Steel, new composite plastics, better fit and finish, and many engine improvements internally, and an engine sound dampening cover (like the VW has). '04 saw the better Advanced XM radio, '05 saw Onstar statndard, '06 saw the new iPod radio. In 2007, the ecotec was given 5 more hp.
