I have a 2008 Vue XR AWD. The interior rear view mirror assembly including the piece that is mounted on the windshield fell off and got lost. I have a new complete mirror assembly, but I cannot figure out how to disassemble the windshield mounting "button" from the assembly. In addition, it is some sort of plastic. I have gone to several dealerships asking for help, and they have no idea. I have scoured the internet looking for information, but no luck there as well. Does anyone know where I might look for instructions on how to re-install the mirror? TIA

You listed Vue XR so I chose AWD 3.6 L. I doubt they differ between the trim levels.

You may also wish to investigate the first generation Chevrolet Captiva 2011-2014 ????. It is more or less identical to the second generation Vue.

Any large chain windshield replacement service company should be able to disconnect that in under two seconds. Just stop by one of their locations with that vehicle. You may be able to get them to install it for you with no warranty. Having their knowledge and expertise to do it properly in this case is more important than a warranty as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you for the information, but neither matches up with my mirror unit. I'll try to post a picture later so y'all can see what I am talking about. I did go to several Chevrolet dealerships, and they didn't have a clue

See my comment above about stopping at somewhere like AutoGlass. They will explain it to you in 10 seconds. They have seen every type of mirror mount known to man.

Just be polite about it and offer to exchange a small sum of money. They will likely refuse to take it
