alternator

  1. have a 94 satun sl1 ,had a battery connection problem solved it with a new
    terminal when coming home noticed abs and battery light on checked the
    charging by disconnecting battery cable engine died . is alternator bad or
    is there a fuse im missing that i may have blown when reconecting battery,
    before connection problem everything worked great please help alternator
    seemed to be in hard place to change

    Its not terrible to get to from the bottom..........

  3. It's actually NOT that bad.

    The trick is to lift the car on jack stands and get to it from the
    bottom. Use 1/4" drive tools, and remove the front wheel and splash
    cover.

    Clean the shield off when you do this.

    I did it in an evening one night. It's not hard at all.

    Front RIGHT wheel. Removing the alternator from the front left wheel well is
    a REAL bitch!!!!!

  5. thanks for the information had some more problems this morning had enough
    juice to start engine but automatic transmission seemed like stuck in third
    gear talking to someone i think is in the know says if electrical system is
    weak will cause other things to go haywire just dont want to go to trouble
    of replacing alternator and finding a bigger problem please advise

    Weak alternator - battery will cause erratic auto trans operation.
    This isn't saying that you might not have trans problems. The timing
    of the symptoms is the key. Trans problems showing up at the same
    time as the electrical problems indicates that there's a high
    probability of the problems being connected.

    thanks for the information had some more problems this morning had enough
    Need to replace alternator.

    Low voltage causes electrically controlled transmission to malfunction.

    remove the front wheel and splash
    You may be able to just turn the wheels to the left, remove the splash guard
    and get the alternator out without removing the wheel although that seems to be
    the peferred method. I have a 96SL2 and I got mine out with the wheel on
    without a problem.
