2008 Saturn Vue, brother was driving it last night and made it a mile and the car just died, thought maybe alternator just crapped out, got it home charged battery tested battery tested good decided to attempt to start it to verify charging system was not working, went going to start it it turned over hard like -40 degree cold start hard, went under and tapped on the starter potentially free it up if its seized and it still does the same thing. does anyone have any guidance on what to persue

Check visually for spark and measure fuel pressure at the fuel rail test valve whether by depressing it for a visual spray of fuel or connecting a fuel pressure gauge. Remove some spark plugs and examine them for raw fuel or lack of it. Lack of fuel can indicate injector main fuse failure. Lack of spark on any plug and dry spark plugs would point to a dead crank sensor. The crank sensor generate precise timing signals as the electronic clock of the ecm. No crank sensor signals = no spark, no fuel pump operation, no injector operation.
