We had a '98 SL1 until we traded it for a VUE in '02. We had no problems
with it outside of routine wear and tear. My other half loved the car.
    Good luck.

    That said, I had a '98 SL2 I had no problems with--and I liked it
a whole lot better than my '03 Ion. The only thing that died on
my SL2 that I wouldn't have expected was the reverse-light
switch--it went at 20,000 miles (fixed under warranty) and again
at 60,000 ($15 part, changed myself in 10 minutes with a
deep-well socket). That's way better than the laundry list of
fit-and-finish issues I've had with my Ion.
