    Took my vue for its first oil change last week. I live 25 miles from the
    dealer. I made an appointment for 10am, got there at 945. It was after 11
    when I my car was ready. To me this seems like a long time for an oil
    change and tire rotation when I have an appointment. I complained and the
    service manager was going to get back with me but so far, nothing. It was a
    good experience buying at Saturn but the service dept has disappointed me.
    I'm not driving that far and spending that much of my time for simple
    routine maintenance.

    Is 1 hour 15 minutes+ normal at Saturn dealers for this maintenance?

    Sounds about right. You might do better going to 'Jiffy Lube' but I've heard
    horror stories about those quick change places. All reasons why I do my own
    maintenance.

    Most dealerships near me have 29 minutes oil changes (all makes).

    Same here. My Buick dealer does 29 minutes without an appointment. Guess
    I'll only go to saturn for warrenty items.

  5. If it were just the oil change, I'd say yes. But with the tire rotation, I'd
    say it was OK. Keep in mind they should be topping up the fluids and giving
    you a courtesy car wash also.

    Oil change with tire rotation pays .45 hours. Basically its a half hour
    once they find your car, rack it, and drive it off. Thats only so long
    as they are not getting backed up. If its a Ecotec its fast if its a
    3.0L or 3.5L its a bitch. Your best bet is to bring some reading
    material when you get your vehicle seviced at any place.

  7. Joys of my '93 SC2. I can change the oil (but not the filter) real
    fast, ever since the silly flap/dam thing fell out under the car:

    * Grab socket wrench
    * Pop hood, take off oil cap.
    * Slide drain pan under car to the magic spot.
    * Reach under and undo plug, being careful to get hot oil all over your
    hand/arm.
    * Wash hand, arm. Dry same.
    * Look at oil plug, decide you don't want to hop on the bike and ride
    over to the dealer, ghrab tube of RTV and dump a pile onto where the
    washer thingie was.
    * Slide out drain pan. Splash oil all over the floor.
    * Wipe where the oil came out of so it's not oily.
    * Stick plug back in by hand, then tighten down.
    * Add new oil above.
    * Dump oil oil in 55 gallon waste drum in corner.
    * Wash up.
    * Check level.
    * Start car, drive around, come back, check level, panic.

    My Harley is even easier, except the fucking oil filter is sideways in
    front of the motor above the motor mount, which acts as a great diverter
    to get oil EVERYWHERE. This is supposedly better than years ago when it
    was in the oil tank.
